The Advanced Certificate in Blood Bank Technician (ACBBT) is a one-year career-focused program that equips students with both fundamental and advanced skills in blood banking, hematology, and transfusion services. This course is designed for students aiming to work in clinical laboratories, hospitals, blood banks, and diagnostic centers.
The curriculum is divided into two semesters. In Semester 1, students learn about human blood composition, collection, screening, blood typing, and transfusion protocols. Semester 2 takes the learner deeper into immunohematology, component separation, transfusion reaction management, infection control, biomedical waste handling, and lab automation.
Students will also gain practical experience in using blood bank equipment, managing donor databases, and adhering to national blood safety standards. On completion, students will be eligible for roles such as Blood Bank Technician, Lab Assistant, or Transfusion Assistant.
