Course Objective:
The objective of the Diploma in Ophthalmic Technology (DOT) course is to provide students with the necessary knowledge and skills in the field of eye care technology. Through this course, students are given both theoretical and practical education in diagnosing eye diseases, treatment, and the proper use of ophthalmic equipment. Students receive in-depth training on the use of ophthalmic tools and instruments, eye examinations, refraction techniques, assisting in ophthalmic surgeries, and eye care procedures. This course helps students develop expertise in identifying eye diseases, understanding treatment processes, and providing patient care.
Course Structure:
This course is divided into four semesters, with each semester offering both theoretical and practical education. In the first semester, students are introduced to the basic aspects of ophthalmic technology, human anatomy, ophthalmic instruments, and patient care. In the second semester, students are trained in refraction techniques, optical dispensing, contact lenses, and low vision aids. In the third and fourth semesters, more advanced topics such as ophthalmic surgery assistance, retinal diseases, pediatric ophthalmology, management of eye diseases, and emergency care are covered. Additionally, students have the opportunity to gain practical experience through internships and project work.
